Pray for Japan / BoboKurumi

Dear my friend in the world…

Thank you for praying for Japan.
We receive many kind messages and cheering, and we are holding up. We are so appreciated to know many of you donate to Japan, and we are sure that we will be back to normal (which is happy life) back.

Our city, Takayama, is not located in the disaster-stricken area. Although we have had some earthquakes, we do not see any big physical damages. So we are fine now.

However, we need little of your help to support not only the disaster-stricken are but our city. Our city, Takayama, is known as "a great city for tourists - one of the "must visit" city in Japan."

As you can imagine, because of this disaster, we have been experiencing a hard time of having people from the other prefecture in Japan as well as oversea.

I completely understand how tourists think. I wouldn't go to the nation where earthquakes happen in almost every hour.

But… we, actually "I" as Atsushi Futatsuya, cannot stand that my loving city of Takayama is going down because of less traffic in Economy. I just cannot watch what is happening now. If economy is down in this city, many people will lose job, then it will be difficult to keep this city as sightseeing place and historical place.

So, I decided to make this page here.


I was talking about economy. So, I would like to stick to this and make it more socially valuable.

Here is the Bobo-Kurumi Charm, made in this city.

I will ship this Bobo-Kurumi Charm with 12.50$ (about 1,000 yen) including tax, shipping and handing. Then from benefit, I am gonna donate to disaster-stricken are (I am assuming about 1.00$ will be the amount I am going to donate.) I will talk to the other business owner in Takayama and ask them to join this project so that my friends and I can support Japan.

I launched this project to move economy in Takayama, and to help the stricken area even a little. We need to keep moving our economy for future and we just cannot be sad to what happened and is happening.

This is the worst disaster I have ever experienced.
Many… many people have past away and many people are still suffering. In addition, nuclear reactor issues, supply issues, and phycological issues. We need to overcome many many challenges.

And… as you know, we are ready to fight for these challenges. We as Japanese never lost our dignity, discipline, and mostly culture. I have not heard any panics or riots. This is who Japanese are, and I am proud of who I am.

If you could support what I am thinking and hoping for the city of Takayama, and purchase this charm as "our charm for piece," it would be really appreciated.

Sarubobo literally translated from the Japanese as "a baby monkey". The Japanese word for monkey is "saru", and another way of saying it is "en". Note that in Kyushu "bobo" means female genitals and/or lovemaking, so be careful on using this term.
There are several reasons why the amulet has this name. The sarubobo is associated with three wishes;

"Protection from bad things."

In Japanese, the English word "leave" translates as "saru", so possession of a sarubobo means that bad things will "saru"

"A happy home, a good match"

In Japanese, a happy home is "kanai enman", a good match is "ryo-en"

"Having an easy delivery on birth."

Monkeys' childbirth is easy.
The face of the sarubobo is traditionally red, as is the face of baby monkeys.

Sarubobo is one of the most famous souvenir in Takayama. We thought… if Sarubobo is a baby… we don't want them to be cold… what if they are infant…?

Of course, it is a imaginary story. Sarubobo is a charm.
I thought this Sarubobo and Bobo-Kurumi charm is good for this situation because it is associated with a wish of "Protection from bad things."
